Firstly - I must apologize for the lack of posts recently. Between lying by the pool wasting my life away, to trying to pretend the Giggs drama hasn't ripped my tiny little heart into shreds, its been hard finding the time to blog. And quite frankly, after the emotional exhaustion of the Champions League final... I figured a nice little break from football wouldn't hurt. But we all know the likelihood of my shunning the football world COMPLETELY is as probable as Amy Winehouse staying sober. Therefore, allow me to share with you the headlines bringing a smile my way...
Summer may be the laziest time of my year, but in the world of football the transfer market is constantly blowing up. And although I try not to pay it any attention (British tabloids, hand on my heart, make up more stories than J.K Rowling every could) - one little bit of business has made my ears perk up. You see, I rarely like players who switch loyalties, but Michael Owen's calm and assured presence, even when substituted in the dying minutes of a game, has quietly and obligingly turned me into a fan. From his overtime last minute winning goal against City - PURE class - to his laid back demeanor, there's something about him that is refreshingly simple, not overbearing, and timeless. I never thought the day would come where I'd say I have grown fond of a once-Liverpudlian, but, in his very own words... "If you can't beat them? Join them."
Amen to that, Michael. Amen to that.
